1. Cockroach Inc’s ‘The Dream Machine’ Launches On Steam

      .

May 11th saw the release of Cockroach Inc’s point and click adventure The Dream Machine on Steam. After seeing the original visual style of the game and hearing great reviews from friends I felt I had to give it a chance. I’m not usually one for point and click games but the appearance of the game drew me in and from there I discovered there was a lot more substance than I expected. The game comes in the form of five stand alone chapters, three of which are currently available on Steam and from the website. The other two are still in development and are planned for release in the coming months. Read the rest of the article at the link below…

    2. The Best Of Free Online Gaming ~ Tribes: Ascend

      Tribes

      .

Tribes is a name that may be familiar to some of you more seasoned gamers. Back in 1998 the first Tribes game was developed and released for PC by Dynamix with reasonable success. Over the next few years sequels and ports to the Playstation 2 were released but eventually the game, its fan base and its series faded away with the last release in 2004. Spring forward to 2012 and Hi-Rez Studios have decided it’s about time we heard from Tribes again and are releasing a free-to-play multiplayer only game called Tribes: Ascend. 3. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition ~ Hands On Review

      .

Geralt of Rivia, the White Wolf, is a Witcher. Witchers are warriors who possess magic powers and superior abilities due to being taken in as children and given potions and martial training for most of their young lives. This special training can cause adverse side affects and sometimes even death, the result of this is that only 40% of children survive the final trial and go on to become Witchers. Once fully trained Witchers use their unique abilities to make a living killing wild beasts and often people who get in their way. Geralt was special, being able to take on larger doses of the mutagen as a child and undergo extra experiments to further increase his abilities. Read the rest of the review at the link below…

    4. The Best Of Free Online Gaming: EverQuest II

      EQII

      .

Welcome to the fortnightly series of articles that is to hopefully become a record of The Best Of Free Online Gaming*. We here at The Reticule know that not everyone has the spare cash to spend on every AAA or indie release, or to sign up to monthly payments for all the latest MMOs. Trouble is, if your looking for some free gaming there are literally hundreds of games taking up the free-to-play structure nowadays and trawling through them all to find ones that are worthwhile can take up a lot of time. I aim to bring you some mini reviews on a variety of the best free-to-play games the internet has to offer, saving not just your money but your sanity too. Last time we took at look at League of Legends, an action RTS with over 32 million players and three years of release time. Today I bring you EverQuest II. 5. Toki Tori 2 In Development, Shows Off New Features

      TT2

      .

The Toki Tori series of games may look all cute and fluffy on the outside, but the bottom line is that Two Tribes have created a challenging and creative platform puzzler for all ages. The recent and popular remake of the originals for the Steam and iPhone audience and the inclusion in January’s Humble Bundle for Andriod has helped boost the profile of Toki Tori. So much so that Two Tribes are currently in development of a entirely new set of puzzles and mechanics for a completely new game. Read the rest of the article at the link below…

    7. Mass Effect 3 ~The Verdict

      Shepard takes on a Reaper

The first choice for me was one of great importance. It could mean the difference between life and death, the destruction of a whole civilisation or the lives of my crew members. At least that’s how important it felt. The decision of course was whether I wanted to keep the original Shepard on the front cover of my Mass Effect 3 box or flip over to the rather sleek looking reversible FemShep cover on the other side. It’s been a tough few weeks in my attempt at a spoiler free build up to Mass Effect 3’s launch but fear not, I wont be giving away any major plot lines or story details during this review. As a long term fan of the Final Fantasy games I can see just how much they have changed over the years bringing in all kinds of new aspects and abilities for each new game and revisiting and improving the parts we know and love. Square Enix has promised that Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be an huge improvement on its predecessor and it’s clear to see that they are determined to make some major developments, so much so that it has all become a little overwhelming. 12. The Settlers Online Beta - First Impressions

Having not played a Settlers game for a good 10 or so years I was surprised and excited to see that there was an online version in development by Ubisoft and had to get into the beta to see what it was all about. The Settlers Online is a free to play, RTS game taking from the popular PC series that started in 1993. It is browser based which means no downloads are required and even the oldest of PC’s can handle this with no problems. Read the rest of the article at the link below…
